Favorite Albums on Spotify – January 2023

Trying to start a music list in 2023. I’ve been trying to make better use of my Spotify account. Spotify offers such a large resource of music to listen to that it makes more sense for me to explore as much as I can. Most of the time, I just listen to the same songs that I always listen to. I’ve tried using the Discover feature but I honestly it doesn’t really get the job done. I’ve listened to a lot of music before opening a Spotify account and the Discover feature tends to recommend me songs that I’ve already listened to.

So how to get around this problem? I’ve just compiled a list of albums that I want to listen to and just start listening to them and rate them. The below is a list of my top 5 favorite albums that I’ve listened to. They’re not necessary new albums, just albums that I haven’t listened to before and decided to give it a listen.

Dance Gavin Dance – Jackpot Juicer

Favorite Song: Pop Off!

I honestly really enjoyed this album. As a long time Dance Gavin Dance fan, I felt that they really nailed it with this album. No skips and loved each song. The guitar riffs as well as Tilians vocals were spot on.

Coheed and Cambria – Vaxis II: A Window of the Waking Mind

Favorite Song: Love Murder One

Always loved Coheed and Cambria. I enjoyed all the songs on this album but Love Murder One was probably my favorite and repeated the song the most.

Volbeat – Beyond Hell / Above Heaven

Favorite Song: A Warrior’s Call

Amazing album. Never heard of this band before and discovered it after Spotify auto-played after I finished another album. Love this style and will be listening to more of their work soon.

Standards – Fruit Town

Favorite Song: Snack

This is an instrumental Math Rock band and it gave me vibes from TTNG which is a good thing.

Belvedere – Hindsight is the Sixth Sense

Favorite Song: Good Grief Retreat

I’ve listened to Belvedere in the past and decided to check up on their music again. Really enjoyed this album and recommend it to anyone who enjoys skate punk music.
